For his second solo exhibition at the gallery, Levalet chooses cinema as his playground. Rather than focusing on a few iconic masterpieces, the artist moves freely across genres and eras — from film noir to period dramas, from spaghetti westerns to contemporary blockbusters. He creates a wandering journey through a shared visual culture, built on instantly recognizable images and scenes. With Clap, Levalet does not pay homage to cinema in a literal way. Instead, he appropriates, diverts, and fragments it. For the first time, he develops a body of work based on assemblages of vintage film posters, which he cuts, rearranges, and recomposes.…
