Nychos is a leading Austrian contemporary artist and internationally recognized street artist, renowned for his spectacular interpretations of human and animal anatomy. Born and raised in Austria in a hunting family, he was exposed to animal anatomy from an early age, an experience that would have a lasting influence on his artistic practice.
Growing up as a child of the 1980s, Nychos was equally fascinated by cartoons, pop culture and heavy metal. At the age of 18, he discovered graffiti and began painting. Over time, these diverse influences merged into a distinctive visual language that exists at the intersection of street art, illustration, anatomy and underground culture.
Nychos is particularly known for his anatomical dissections and cross-sections of human and animal bodies. His works reveal what normally remains hidden beneath the surface: muscles, organs, bones and internal structures are rendered with almost scientific precision, while being reinterpreted through dynamic compositions and vivid colored outlines. This combination of anatomy, graphic culture and graffiti aesthetics has become one of the artist’s most recognizable visual signatures.
His practice extends from large-scale murals across cities around the world to paintings, drawings and works on canvas presented in international galleries. Through this diverse body of work, Nychos has developed a practice that goes beyond the traditional boundaries of street art, establishing a strong presence within the field of contemporary art.
An artist constantly on the move, Nychos has created murals and exhibited his work internationally, building a global reputation through both his monumental public artworks and gallery exhibitions. In 2015, he released The Deepest Depths of the Burrow, a documentary film exploring his experiences and journey as a globetrotting artist.
The pseudonym Nychos derives from the dinosaur Deinonychus, whose name means “terrible claw” in Latin. The name reflects the powerful and visceral nature of his artistic universe, where anatomy, movement and popular culture converge to create a visual language that has made Nychos one of the most distinctive figures in contemporary street art and urban art.

Nychos x Mazel Galerie
Mazel Galerie is delighted to announce its new collaboration with Nychos. This collaboration marks a new step in the development of the gallery’s program and reflects its ongoing commitment to representing and presenting international artists whose practices challenge the boundaries between street art and contemporary art.
Nychos will make his debut with Mazel Galerie as part of Art History, a group exhibition presented in Brussels in September 2026. Bringing together a selection of contemporary artists around the reinterpretation of masterpieces from art history, the exhibition provides a particularly relevant context in which to discover Nychos’ distinctive approach to imagery, anatomy and visual culture.
This first presentation with Mazel Galerie marks the beginning of a collaboration that will continue to develop through future projects and presentations of the artist’s work in Brussels.
