A leading figure in contemporary urban art, Levalet continues his international career with a new public commission in Switzerland. To mark the 150th anniversary of the death of Mikhail Bakunin (1814–1876), the French street artist has unveiled a new mural for the Exomusée du Locle, adding a second work to the museum’s open-air collection.
A major figure of anarchist philosophy, Bakunin stayed in Le Locle in 1869, where he delivered a powerful speech to local watchmakers and workers gathered at the Café de la Poste. One hundred and fifty years after his death, this new mural pays tribute to his philosophical legacy and his lasting influence on the history of workers’ movements.
With this new intervention, Levalet offers a contemporary interpretation of this historical figure. Staying true to his distinctive visual language, blending drawing, illusion and poetic storytelling, the artist contributes to the unique dialogue between heritage, collective memory and contemporary creation that defines the Exomusée du Locle.
The entire Mazel Galerie team warmly congratulates Levalet on this new achievement, further confirming his position as one of the leading figures in contemporary urban art and street art.
